Made in Oregon, Sarah Schroeder began her modeling career at 16 after being scouted in a mall. Totally True; dont hate. Time off for college, she has returned to the rough and tumble sport of modeling and often works with Portland’s top shooters and designers. When not working, she’s eating! Passionate about food, Schroeder is always on the lookout for great culinary experiences. In fact, she is working her way thru a list of eateries – restaurants and food carts. Want to know where to find the best PDX burgers and cocktails; Schroeder’s your guy (err, girl). Away form the buzz/whiz of the shutter, we chatted a little shop and a little fun. Let’s Talk Modeling with Sarah Schroeder.
Q: What are you wearing when not in front of the cameras?
I’m a big jeans, vneck t’s, and cardigan girl, the right pair of jeans can be like a uniform and I’m a sweater fanatic so about half of my closet is full of cardigan sweaters.
Q: What is your most important skin care product?
My face wash and moisturizer, I’m hooked on the Philosophy skin care products, since I’ve started using that line I can always count on my skin being consistently clear.

Q: What designer do you wear most?
As for local designers, I’m fortunate enough to have some Idom, Rachel Mara, and Dawn Sharp pieces. Just my everyday clothing varies from Elie Tahari blazers, to simple jcrew sweaters, and I love my Earnest Sewn jeans.
Q: What are the ingredients for hosting a great dinner party?
Good company and plenty of good wine… then nobody will notice the terrible cooking.
Q: What’s been your favorite job to date?
Currently it’s a tie between shooting Rachel Mara’s spring collection and I just shot a Portland Monthly Magazine fall editorial, it was a miserably hot day but the overall outcome was amazing.

Q: Diet or exercise; how do you keep your model figure?
I don’t believe in diets, I try to eat healthy, fresh foods when I can but that doesn’t mean you’ll ever catch me saying no to a burger and a beer. As for exercise, I trained in ballet for 22 years of my life and then I’m currently practicing corepower yoga, which can be pretty intense, but the results are definitely worth it.
Q: What was the happiest day of your life?
I can’t pinpoint one specific day but there have been several moments in my life that have made me the happiest, traveling makes me feel happy b/c I can’t get enough of different cultures and food, but there’s a lot of little things out there that can be as simple as a glass of wine with someone I love that can bring me happiness.

Q: Who inspires you?
Innovative people who aren’t afraid to put themselves out there, it’s an ongoing process for me to not always worry about what people are thinking, I’d love to have the freedom of someone who can just put everything on the table and disregard anything that’s ever said about them.
Q: Ginger or Mary Ann
Mary Ann.
Q: What’s your favorite body part to show off?
My legs, I have very long legs and I don’t care that they’re not tan.

Q: With whom would you most like work – photographer and/or designer?
My dream photographer to work with would be Patrick Demarchelier. As for designer, the list is literally a mile long but if I had to choose two; Balenciaga and Chloe.
Q: If you could spend a day with anyone throughout history: who and why?
Marie Antoinette for her trendsetting and use of different colors, fabrics, and hairstyle statements. She was a woman long, long before her time.

thanks Sarah, you Rock!
